Borough Committee

The Borough Committee explores the issues and options related to the City of Gustavus joining or forming a borough or remaining in the Unorganized Borough. Committee work led to a realization that important community resouorces at the Falls Creek hydropower site and Icy Passage lay outside the City boundaries. The City Council authorized the Borough Committee to develop a petition to annex lands at the hydropower site and the waters of Icy Passage between the existing City Boundary and the shoreline of Pleasant Island.

 Services

The Borough Committee is exploring the options and implications of becoming a borough or remaining an Unorganized Borough, and the impact it would have on services, representation, and taxation within the City of Gustavus.

The Borough Committee under direction of the Council has developed a petition for the annexation of lands in the Falls Creek area and the waters of Icy Passage between the existing City Boundary and the shoreline of Pleasant Island.  That petition is now before the State Local Boundary Commission for review.
