Thursday November 29th, 2007
Committee members present: Becky King, James Martell

Meeting started: 7:10
Meeting Agenda:
● Set regular monthly meeting date
● Budget calendar recommendation for council approval
● Discuss ideas for working with the Planning Committee
● Discuss Finance Committee organization and goals
● Work on uniform budget formats
● Work on budget/finance definitions
Agenda Item: Set regular monthly meeting date
Discussion regarding date and time for monthly meetings.
Becky moved to set The Finance Committee meeting to last Tuesday of the Month at 7:00 PM.
The motion was seconded by James.
The motion passed unanimously.
Agenda Item: Budget calendar recommendations for council approval
Committee members discussed steps and time lines for the completion of various phases of the city budget process and created a budget calendar. The Fire Department, by ordinance, submits its budget by March and the committee discussed the need to modify this ordinance so the Fire Department budget submission would fit into the City budget calendar frame work.
Becky moved to request the city council to amend Ordinance, Section 6.02.030F to read as follows: “The Fire Chief shall annually submit to the City Clerk an operating and capital budget by April 1 for the department’s following FY needs.”
The motion was seconded by James.
The motion passed unanimously.
Becky moved to accept the budget calendar proposed by the committee during this meeting.
James seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
There was additional discussion by the committee and others present and they decided the committee would have to meet more frequently than once a month to comply with the demands of the calendar.

Becky moved to present the City of Gustavus budget calendar to the City Council at the next Council work session.
James seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
