Planning Committee Tri-Annual Report to City Council
Summary of Committee Activities for the Past 4 Months
- Policy and Procedure: Annual Planning policy and procedure has been
submitted to city council for your consideration.
- Policy and Procedure: continued working on Information and
Communications - Still under development.
- Grant writer - We recommended hiring a grant writer. City Council agreed and is in the process of working with the granting agency (EDA) to use their award to hire the grant writer.
- Capital project planning - The planning committee compiled a list
of capital requests for consideration by city council. City council
used the list in preparing its CIP submission.
- Strategic Plan Revision - The planning committee is preparing a
proposal for revising the Gustavus Strategic Plan by the end of 2011.
Expect a recommendation from the committee for your next council
meeting.
Summary of Proposed Activities for the Next 4 Months
- Continue working on Information and Communications Policy and Procedure.
- Coordinate grant writing efforts; supervise grant writer(s) and coordinate with other city staff
- Make proposal to city council for strategic plan revision. If
approved, proceed with that planning effort.

- I anticipate we will bring a proposal for a strategic plan revision
to the city council for consideration next month.
