New Business 1. Letter to Community Concerning Tax Exempt Cards 2. City Council Action on GCN's "Wireless" Trial
Call to Order at 7:00pm Roll Call: Sandi Marchbanks, Lou Cacioppo, Martha Romero, Becky King, Tim Gibson, Wayne Howell, Hank Lentfer Reading of Minutes: The City Clerk reads minutes from July 15th Meeting. Minutes Approved. Public Comment on Non-agenda Items: No public comment on Non-agenda items. Ordinance for Introduction: Sandi Publishes a Consent Agenda on all four ordinances; Title 2 Administration, Title 4.13 Gustavus Endowment Fund, Title 5 Elections, Title 6.2 Gustavus Fire Department. Hanks motions to publish all four ordinances, Lou seconds, motion passes by a vote of 6/0. Amendment to Ordinance for Publication: Sandi explains why The sales tax ordinance needs to be amended, then reads the the new exemption. Wayne, Sandi, and Tim continue to explain why we are amending the ordinance. Sandi asks for a motion. Wayne makes a motion, Martha seconds. Motion passes by a vote of 6/0. Committee Reports: Road Committee. Wayne explains the timeline for the forest receipts. He goes on to say that we have approximately 24 miles of road. He explains that Ring Creek road is going to be the biggest headache, and lets those present know that we are looking for a representative from the Ring Creek area. Next he explains that there is an estimated $17000.00 for the Fire Department coming from the Title 3 grant. Transportation Committee. Email from Bob Doll. Sandi explains the content of the email and what our options are and asks for any comment from the public. New Business: Sandi explains the intentions to write a letter to the Community, and says that money has started coming in. She also talks about the letter explaining the tax exempt card, and getting everyone on board for next year. Next she explains Nate's plan for wireless service in Gustavus. Nate describes his plan and restates that it is just an experiment at the moment. He then answers questions about the range, etc. Public comment on who will be getting tax exempt cards. Sandi explains that people who meet one of the exemptions will get the cards. Public comment on people still not knowing about taxes. Lou explains that there is no excuse for people still not knowing about taxes. The Clerk is asked to explain steps taken to inform the public. Conversation about taxes continues. Sandi explains again to public that we are still a Community of volunteers, and that everyone needs to continue doing their part in helping our Community grow. Motion to adjourn at 8:00pm
