Minutes for the October
13, 2005 Meeting to Review and Certify the 2005 General Municipal
Election
6:30 PM
Mayor Sandi Marchbanks called the meeting to order at 6:32 PM.
- Counting of Absentee by mail Ballots/Addition of Votes from
Absentee by Mail Ballots to totals from October 4, 2005 count.
- Materials were removed from the safe by the clerk and displayed to
the council.
- Outer Envelopes of Mail out Absentee Ballots were opened in the
presence of the Council by the Mayor and the clerk.
- Oath of affidavits were removed from inner envelopes by the clerk
in the presence of the council and verified.
- Inner envelopes, then blank, were shuffled on the table by the
clerk.
- Ballots were removed from envelopes and the ballot number stubs
were removed by the clerk.
- Votes were counted for Advisory School Board and City Council Seats
and D. 2 city council members counted votes while one person read
the votes from ballots. When counts were in agreement, they were
added to the Election Report and added to the vote totals from October
4, 2005.
- The new numbers for each candidate were then read.
- Certification of the results by motion by the City Council.
Tim made a motion to accept the results and the motion passed 6/0
- Signing of the Certificates of election by the clerk and the
mayor.
Sandi and the clerk signed the copies of the election report and the
election certificates for the elected officials to the office of City
Council Ken Klawunder and Mike Atkins.
- Swearing in of new Council Members/Oath of Office
Mayor Marchbanks swore in the new council members Mike Atkins and
Ken Klawunder
- The Gustavus City Council nominated and voted for a new vice mayor
and mayor for the year. Becky made a motion to nominate Wayne
Howe for vice Mayor. The motion passed 5/0. Martha made a
motion to nominate Sandi for Mayor. The motion passed
5/0.
