Strategic Planning Committee

Quarterly Report to the City Council

October 13, 2005

The Strategic Planning Committee met in September and October a few months off.  Former co-chairs, Diane Klawunder and Greg Streveler have taken on work on the boat harbor for the Marine Facilities Committee, leaving Carolyn Edelman as acting chair.  At the Oct. 7^th meeting the committee voted to make Carolyn the committee chair.

The Committee is working on four fronts now:

v     Design of a work plan format for City Departments and Committees to use in conjunction with yearly budget preparation.

v     Design of project scoping forms and other tools for committees to use when organizing project work.

v     Writing emergency procedures into the Gustavus Strategic Plan.

v     Drafting policy statements for planning related issues.

We will be working closely with the City Clerk in the coming month to make sure that formats are consistent. 

It is the goal of the committee to design forms and process that are easy to use and do not present a burden to the committees, while providing helpful and easy to understand information to the City Council.

The regular meeting time for the committee is now the first Friday of each month at 2:00 p.m.  Meeting minutes are available on the City web site under the Committee button.
