NOTICE OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

October 6, 2009

 

NOTICE:  A general election will be held in the City of Gustavus on the 6th day of October, 2009 for the purpose of voting on a proposition, and filling seats on the City Council, as follows:

 

City Council Seat E, 3 Year Term

 

City Council Seat F, 3 Year Term

 

City Council Seat G, 3 Year Term

City Council Seat D, 2 Year Term

PROPOSITION NO. 1

 

EXEMPT COUNCILMEMBERS AND ELECTION CANDIDATES FROM THE REQUIREMENT OF THE STATE OF ALASKA PUBLIC OFFICIAL FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE LAW (ALASKA STATUTE 39.50)

 

Shall the Gustavus Municipal Code be amended by adding:

 

1.     Section 02.20.25 Alaska Public Official Financial Disclosure Exemption

City of Gustavus Council Members shall be exempt from the financial disclosure reporting requirements of the State of Alaska Public Official Financial Disclosure Law (Alaska Statute 39.50). 

 

2.     Section 5.10.105 Alaska Public Official Financial Disclosure Exemption Candidates for City Council shall be exempt from the financial disclosure reporting requirements of the State of Alaska Public Official Financial Disclosure Law (Alaska Statute 39.50).

The polling location will be the Gustavus Public Library.  The polls will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.

 

In order to vote, you must be: (1) a citizen of the United States, and qualified to vote in State of Alaska elections; (2) a resident of the City of Gustavus for at least 30 days prior to the date of the election; and (3) registered to vote in State elections.  You cannot vote if you have been:  (1) convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude, unless your voting rights have been restored; or (2) judicially determined to be of unsound mind, unless this disability has been removed.

 

Candidates for office must file a Declaration of Candidacy form with the City Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m., September 16, 2009.  A Declaration of Candidacy form can be obtained from the City Clerk at the city offices from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the first three Thursdays of the month.
