Resolution No. 2004-12
Resolution by the City of Gustavus in support of a TSA waiver for a Gustavus Airport Law Enforcement Officer (LEO)
WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus was incorporated as a second class city on April 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the airport located in Gustavus is located on state property and is operated by the State of Alaska; and
WHEREAS, there is no public safety department in the City of Gustavus; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus has no funding to employ a law enforcement officer; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus has not identified law enforcement as an essential need for the City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus has established a procedure for emergency response, consisting of dialing 911, who in turn will contact the Alaska State Troopers, who will evaluate the urgency of the situation and take the appropriate measures, which may result in various response times.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Gustavus City Council requests a waiver from TSA to accept the City’s established procedure for emergency response in lieu of an on-duty law enforcement officer.
PASSED and APPROVED BY THE Gustavus City Council this 11th day of November, 2004.
