Resolution No. 2005-04
Resolution by the Gustavus City Council giving direction to the Gustavus Volunteer Fire Department
WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus, Alaska is incorporated as a second-class city, a political subdivision of the State of Alaska, and
WHEREAS, the Gustavus Emergency Response (GER) was renamed the Gustavus Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD) and became a department of the City of Gustavus according to Title 6.02, Fire Department Ordinance, adopted August 19, 2004, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and volunteers of the GVFD serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and City Council, and
WHEREAS, the budget of the GVFD was created with expense figures missing, and the maintenance and repair for fire department vehicles exceeded the budget, and
WHEREAS, the GER held in a separate account monies for the operation of the fire department which were not used for the operation of the Fire Department for needed repairs, maintenance and supplies, and which were not transferred to the City of Gustavus at the request of the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus has submitted a memo of January 26, 2005, to the Fire Chief asking for compliance in the above mentioned areas,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Gustavus directs the Gustavus Fire Chief and the Gustavus Volunteer Fire Department to revise their budget in accordance with the written memo of January 26, 2005, and immediately release to the City of Gustavus all monies held and not previously transferred to the City for use in the GVFD budget.
PASSED and APPROVED by the Gustavus City Council this 10th day of March, 2005.
