Resolution No. 2005-09

Resolution by the City of Gustavus to conduct a survey to obtain eligibility for all types of community development block grants

 

WHEREAS, most municipal government entities as defined by Title 29 of the Alaska Statues having a designation of over 51% of Low and Moderate Income households are eligible for all types of Community Development Block Grants; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gustavus is listed with 44% Low and Moderate Income households, and is therefore denied eligibility to submit Community Development Block Grants in most categories; and

 

WHEREAS, that percentage will not be altered by a government agency until the 2010 census data is recorded and made public; and

 

WHEREAS, any municipality is permitted to conduct a sample survey to upgrade their community designation of percentage of Low and Moderate Income households according to Community Development Block Grant office guidelines; and

 

WHEREAS, the results of such a survey by the City of Gustavus has the potential to establish eligibility for all Community Development Block Grants by obtaining a Low and Moderate Income household percentage of over 51%.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Gustavus will conduct a sample survey to reflect more accurately the household income levels of Gustavus.

 

PASSED and APPROVED by the Gustavus City Council this 10th day of March, 2005.
