Resolution No. 2005-17

WHEREAS, the Salmon River boat launch ramp is deteriorating and in need of replacement;

WHEREAS, this launch ramp is our only means of receiving freight from both Juneau and Seattle;

WHEREAS, many facets of the Gustavus economy depend upon a usable launch ramp facility;

WHEREAS, recreational and sports/charter boat use of the present ramp is severely restricted by the four fold increase of freight delivery by landing craft;

WHEREAS, replacement of the Salmon River boat launch is a high priority project in the community’s Strategic Plan;

AND NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council by this resolution supports the proposal for the construction of a new launch ramp and ramp barge facility.
