CMS Tutorial: Replace a File
The easiest way to update forms and other files stored in the CMS
Much of the CMS, including this tutorial, consists of pages which you edit directly by clicking the edit tab when logged in. However, the CMS also includes files such as Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and Adobe PDF forms and reports. Sometimes those files need to be replaced with new versions.
First you will need to create the new version outside the CMS. This tutorial assumes you have already prepared the new version for upload and have the file stored somewhere on your computer.
- Log in to the web site and go to the form you wish to update.
-
- For example, if you want to replace tax form tax1.doc, go to http://cms.gustavus-ak.gov/government/forms/Tax/Tax1.doc/view
- Click the edit tab. If that’s not visible you need to log in. If you are logged in and don't have an edit tab you need to contact a system administrator for permission to edit that section of the web site.
- While you’re here, change the title to something more informative and consider adding a description.
- Click the “Replace with new file” radio button
- Click the browse button to locate the new file on your computer and click Open to select it.
- Click Save.
