Where Volunteers are Our Foundation
The library is open 6 days a week!
Weekdays 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Mon. & Wed. nights 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thurs. 10:00 a.m. - noon Saturdays 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
February Programs and Activities:
PARENT/CHILD READING TIME: Tuesdays 9:30-10:30 a.m. Children should come with an adult. Thanks!
VALENTINE’S DAY STORY TIME: Monday, Feb.14th at 10:30am-noon for children preschool age through 2nd grade. Preschool children should come with an adult.
SLIDE SHOW ON INDIA: Sarah Betcher will be presenting a program on her trip to India on Feb. 22 at 7 pm. Sarah is also teaching a "Middle-Eastern Dance Class" on Sundays in Feb. at 5-6 pm here at the Library.
GENEOLOGY PROGRAMS: Glen Nelson will be doing a program on Geneology at 6-8pm on Feb. 23 and another one in March, also on the 23rd. Look for more info. on posters going up soon.
EARLY SETTLERS OF GUSTAVUS: Jim Mackovjak will be presenting a program on the early settlers of the area. Very interesting and informative! It will be Feb. 25th at 7 pm. See you there.
NOTE: If any of you have done some interesting travels recently we would like to have you do a program for us. Or perhaps someone who has an interesting hobby or specialty to share could do a program about it? It would be nice if we could have at least one program a month at the library. Think about what you can offer and give us a call or email! Thanks.
PERMANENT FUND DIVIDEND APPLICATIONS are available at the Library. The deadline for filing is March 31, 2011. (You can fill them out online here too.)

We also have 13 new adult non-fiction titles, 6 adult fiction, and 25 new children’s books. For a complete listing of the new titles, please see our bulletin board by the Library entrance. If you would like a listing yourself, just ask and one can be emailed to you.

JANUARY LIBRARY STATISTICS: During January, 2011, we had 745 visits (adults, school children, preschoolers, junior/senior high, in-house computer users, library computer users), checked out 162 books, 242 movies, and 14 CDs; for a total of 420 items. Programs included: city meetings, Martin Luther King Jr. Day Story Hour, Little Ones’ Reading Time, piano lessons, and internet use (both inside the building and out!).
The richest person in the world - in fact all the riches in the world - couldn't provide you with anything like the endless, incredible loot available at your local library. Malcolm Forbes
