GCN Setup Using Connection Wizard

How to use Windows XP's Internet Connection Wizard to connect to the Gustavus Community Network

If you are using Windows XP's Connection Wizard to connect to GCN, answer its questions as follows:

Connection Wizard Welcome Screen Screen 2: Connect to the Internet. Screen3: Set up my connection manually. Screen 4: Connect using modem. Screen 5: Name your connection "GCN." Screen 6: Dial 697-2345 Screen 7: Enter user name and password. 

You should also be asked about a mail account. Specify mail.gustavus.ak.us as the servers (both incoming and outgoing). The type is POP3. Your e-mail address is username@gustavus.ak.us .

  • If you are using a Netscape mail program, click here to continue.
  • If you are using Microsoft Outlook Express, you can click here for detailed setup steps, but they should have been done for you by the wizard.
  • For all other mail programs such as Eudora, consult your program's documentation about how to change your settings as shown under Basic Network Settings, on our GCN Setup page.
